Today’s guest is Gui B.B, who’s work I Have Such a Horrible Voice was invited to this years [8:tension] Series. 

Gui talked with me about precarity. How easily one can get in debt and what this does to a person. She talked about starting a lot of things but not finishing them, about taking risks and the blurry area between life and art.

Luisa Fernanda Alfonso and Estefanía Álvarez Ramírez are in residence at Agora Dance in Montpellier! The two Colombians develope a new work together, with Quinceañeras – the traditional festive event on a girls 15th birthday – as a starting point.

Adam Russell-Jones is our guest this week at [8:tension] Podcast! His solo Release the hounds was invited to this years [8:tension] Series. 

Adam told me about his transition from being a ballet dancer in big companies to making his own work as independent choreographer, about the attraction as well as danger of dancing until complete exhaustion. How the collaboration with musician Moritz Haas evolved and what a drunk stranger on the U8 in Berlin has to do with his piece.

The danceWEB programme is a 5 week further education and exchange programme taking place every year in July and August in Vienna in the frame of ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival. danceWEB 2026 takes place from 8 July to 12 August 2026.

This programme for young professional dancers and choreographers focuses on the exchange of ideas and knowledge, not limited by national borders, on concentrated further training, on meeting with internationally renowned artists gathering at ImPulsTanz with the aim to orient the career of its participants and establish a network.

In the frame of Capacity Grid, Stanislav Genadiev visits Zagreb next week to be part of  Improspekcije Festival 2025.

This week it's Mélissa Guex, who is featured in our [8:tension] Podcast! Her work DOWN (full album) was invited to this year’s [8:tension] Series. 

She talked about her fascination for big crowds. About the magic of instant connection and how she met the drummer Clement Grin, with whom she created the piece DOWN. How she sometimes prefers speaking with her body to speaking with her mouth. And the importance of warming up and accepting downs.
